With just a few days left of our exciting Fiji adventure, my wife Alisa and I were making the most of it.
Our schedule was always full, and these days were no different. Our itinerary was loaded with hikes, adventures, and sights to see.
Time in between was typically spent updating our blog, “The Carpe Diem Couple”, or posting on social media.
We had always kept busy and here on this slow-paced, tropical island, we did the same.
But then something changed me forever.
Alisa and I were walking back to the hostel after an afternoon waterfall hike.
Sitting at the bus stop was a young, Fijian man, around twenty years old.
He had a few dozen eggs resting next to him on the bench.
We said hello, and he flashed a big, welcoming grin.
Then I asked “Waiting for the bus?”
“No, I just met someone for these eggs.”
Confused, I asked, “So now what are you doing now?”
“I’m just sitting here,” he said grinning.
He noticed the bewilderment on my face, and continued, “I’ve got nothing to do right now, and these eggs don’t need to be anywhere at the moment. So I’m sitting and enjoying this time.”
We said goodbye and I left that conversation a changed man.
With all of our “busyness”—schedules, maps, technology, blog posts, and social media—here was a man who wasn’t concerned about “getting anywhere” or achieving more.
He was actually enjoying his life, in the present moment…and in peace.
I’m currently in Louisiana for two presentations, and I’ve been focusing my energy on sharing messages like the one above in corporate workshops, at conferences, and in front of audiences who desire to live with more peace and less stress.

What I’m pondering:
How appreciation for your next meal (or saying a prayer over it) is actually infusing it with positive, healing energy - Watch this for proof!
