How's this for fate...
My best friend Dave and I grew up four houses away from each other on Long Island, New York, and we went to the same high school.
But here's the kicker...we were NEVER friends until in our thirties and on the other side of the country!
It took fifteen years and nearly two thousand miles to bring us together as the closest of friends.
And the reason we connected? I told my wife that I wanted to spend a winter skiing.
My heart was begging for it.
We chose Breckenridge, Colorado as our destination, and once there, I went into the Briar Rose Chophouse & Saloon with my resume in hand looking for a bartending job.
I walk in and who's standing there? This guy I knew from high school!
He looks at me and says "Messeroff?!" and I replied "Lipka!?"
He asked flat out if I could bartend, to which I confidently and truthfully replied "Yes". He hired me on the spot and the rest is history.
Now, nearly ten years later, Dave is not only one of the closest people in my life but someone I consider to be a brother.
He's been by my side through the lowest depression of my life, through opening my relationship and entering into polyamory, through starting businesses, and then as I transitioned into coaching and now speaking...always with a supportive smile, a great attitude, and genuine caring. He's not only been a great friend, but a wonderful boss, roommate, and an incredible "brother" to my wife as well.
I've also been there for him...a rock he could count on through his relationships, hardships, and triumphs. Sometimes I play the role of coach, but always a compassionate friend. Actually, it's more than that...we’re family.
We hold each other accountable and bring out the best in each other. I know for certain that he brings out the best in me and helps me find the joy in life every day.
And all because I was able to bravely and boldly follow my intuition to head west for some skiing.
So, think about your own life...your own internal desires...what is your soul BEGGING for you to do, or where is it BECKONING you to go?
And, most importantly, what could you be missing out on if you don't follow that hunch? And who may be missing out on you?
If you don't go...you'll never know.
