I’m not a “happy person”.
Surprised?
Well, let me clarify…I’m not a “naturally happy person”.
The other night, I was lying in bed during a sleepover with my 8-year-old nephew, and I said, “Noah, do you know that you and I are very similar?”
He said “Really?”
I said, “Yes. Think about your sister and Aunt Alisa. They are naturally happy people. It’s the same with my best friends, Dave and Alessandro. They don’t have to do much to feel good and wake up in a great mood. That’s not the case for me, and it seems like you’re the same.”
He said, “But you seem happy most of the time.”
“I am!” I replied, “But, for me, it takes some preparation. It’s why I meditate every morning, read nice books, watch great videos, write in my gratitude journal, sit in nature, write my wins at the end of the day, and do work that I love.”
We then meditated together for a few minutes and had a really nice morning.
And as I share this story here with you, I realize that it’s not about “getting happy”…it’s about realizing that happiness is already there.
Happiness actually is our natural state, but some of us simply have more gunk and junk that prevents us from feeling it. We just need to clear it off.
We need to remind ourselves that joy is always available…
And, most importantly, we need to get out ahead of it and get out of our own way.
I’m currently focusing my energy on coaching and sharing messages like these in workshops, at conferences, and in front of audiences who desire to live with more peace and less stress. If you’re interested in working together, book a call …let’s see if it’s a great fit!

Mike’s quote of the week:
“Life is simply too short to spend it feeling stagnant, depressed, and unfulfilled.” - MM
What I’m pondering:
If life is in constant flux, is there ever really an “ideal situation” to arrive at or attain?
Things I’ve shared recently:
"I'm in the best mood I've been in for a very long time."
“Does it have dye in it?” asks my 7-year-old niece
